Between May 11, 2017 and May 15, 2017 is the period of the Ice Saints. The ice saints, also known as saints’ days, include several days commemorating saints in May. The ice saints are meteorological weather regularities in Central Europe. According to folklore, the mild spring weather only becomes stable at the end of “cold Sophie” on May 15. The Ice Saints are bishops and martyrs from the 4th and 5th centuries. The individual Ice Saints’ Days are as follows: 11.5. Mamertus, 12.5. Pankratius, 13.5. Servatius, 14.5. Boniface, 15.5. Sophie.
In comparison, in Battambang, Cambodia, there is no need to worry about a sudden cold snap. The average temperature in May is 29.1° Celsius. At the moment, the temperatures are rather higher at up to 34 degrees.
