A remote place with great hope
Mperrishi is located in Kajiado County, around 90 km from Nairobi. Around 5,000 people, mainly Maasai, live here without medical care or access to clean water.
Education begins with a vision
Parents founded an elementary school in 2001. It was not officially recognized until 2016. Today, around 200 children attend classes – and the number continues to rise thanks to water and school meals.
Our help on site
Since 2022, the WeCare Association has been supplying 20,000 liters of water per month and funding a school feeding program. An additional hot meal was added in 2025. This strengthens education – and the parents’ confidence.
Why a borehole changes everything
A 200 m deep well provides clean water, prevents diseases, relieves the burden on women and children and improves the chance of education.
Sustainability through personal responsibility
A trained committee operates the well. A small fee per bucket of water finances maintenance and projects such as gardens and chicken coops. Hygiene workshops strengthen knowledge and self-help.
Costs and impact
The well costs around CHF 45,000. The municipality of Mperrishi is responsible for its operation. The service life is around 25 years.
