2025 was a year of important progress for the WeCare-Association – and at the same time a year of demanding challenges. Together with our dedicated local team, we were able to expand our programs and significantly increase their impact. We are very proud of this.
Mperrishi - Food, water and education
Two meals per school day
In Mperrishi, we have expanded the 2025 school feeding program. In addition to lunch, the children now also receive breakfast in the form of a nutritious porridge. The program was thus expanded from one to two daily meals.
The additional morning meal has a clear effect: better concentration in the morning, more stable energy and greater learning ability throughout the school day.
Borehole project: financing secured
A key focus in 2025 was securing funding for the planned borehole in Mperrishi. Thanks to the generous support of the municipalities of Erlenbach, Meilen and Zollikon as well as other donors, we were able to secure full funding before the end of the year.
The necessary approval procedures are currently underway. The aim is to start drilling work before April 2026.
Support for girls from Mperrishi and the surrounding area
In 2025, we also accompanied female students on their educational path.
Direct support was provided:
- 24 girls from Mperrishi
- 19 in the elementary school
- 5 in the secondary school
Unfortunately, three girls had to drop out of the program due to pregnancies.
In 2025, a total of 14 students supported by us were in secondary school, including students from Iloshon. Two of them successfully completed their education at the end of the year. We are currently looking into further education options for them.
We also supported13 schoolgirls in Nasaru/Iloshon.
We continue to support all pupils for whom we have assumed responsibility – as long as they wish to do so and meet the requirements. However, due to the high logistical requirements, we are currently no longer accepting new individual sponsorships.
Rehoboth School - continuity even during the vacations
The Rehoboth School with around 200 children also received extensive support in 2025. The children there receive two meals a day – even during the school vacations.
This continuous supply has a clearly positive effect:
- Better health stability
- Higher school attendance
- Decreasing absences
- Increasing motivation of parents
The school has now reached the limits of its capacity. In addition, there are structural defects that repeatedly lead to injuries. There is a need for improvement here in the medium term.
School nutrition programs - major expansion in 2025
By including the Embolei School in our nutrition program, we were able to significantly increase our reach.
Meal development
- 2024: 57,600 meals
- 2025: 245,160 meals
- Increase: +325 %
In 2025, our school feeding programs reached around 750 children in three schools.
The schools unanimously report clear improvements:
- Rising pupil numbers
- Falling absenteeism rates
- Better concentration in class
- Quieter classes
- More stable school operations
- Higher motivation of parents
Teachers confirm that children who are well cared for cooperate more actively and that lessons can be organized more reliably.

Embolei - visible effect on inscriptions
In Embolei, the number of pupils has increased by almost 18% since the introduction of the school feeding program in January 2025 – from 343 to 404 pupils. This development shows impressively how strongly school feeding programs promote enrolment and regular attendance.
Teacher seminar and first aid training
Our second teachers’ seminar was again very well attended – with representatives from nine schools. We also held a first aid course for teachers for the first time. This was made possible by the participation and generous support of Dr. Bobby Janson-Müller and Simone Huether.
The combination of educational content and practical health skills was rated particularly positively.
Total reach 2025
Through our programs and accompanying activities, around 2,000 children benefited directly or indirectly from our work in 2025. This corresponds to an increase of around 33 % compared to the previous year.
Conclusion and outlook
2025 was a year of growing impact and important milestones. Despite logistical and structural challenges, we were able to expand and strengthen the quality of our programs.
All of this was only possible thanks to the reliable support of our donors and the great commitment of our local team.
We look forward to the coming year with confidence – and thank you very much for your support.
