Trip to Cambodia – insights, encounters and moving moments
I visited our project in Cambodia again this year in March 2025. After a long
We firmly believe in the power of helping people to help themselves. That is why we support sustainable projects in Cambodia and Kenya that offer local people the opportunity to lead a self-determined and independent life.
Poverty comes in many forms, but the challenges are often similar. For this reason, we focus in both countries on providing education and specific skills that will open up career prospects for children when they reach adulthood.
The WeCare-Association is a non-profit and independent association that supports sustainable projects in Kenya and Cambodia and helps people to help themselves. As initiators, we support projects so that they can then be handed over to the local population. Our cooperation is characterized by respect and consideration for the culture, history and customs of the local society.
In 2007, Susanne Riz began holding a bazaar at her home, which developed into an important annual fundraising event. Over 11 years, the bazaar has raised a total of CHF 520,000 for good causes and financed numerous projects in Kenya and Cambodia. In 2016, Susanne Riz and her husband Robert Buchbauer founded the non-profit association “WeCare-Association” in order to professionalize the association’s activities.
Our name – WeCare-Association
The name of our association originated from Barack Obama’s election campaign slogan in 2008. “Yes We Can” became our slogan as we achieved our ambitious goals. After our first visits to Africa, this changed to “We Care”, as we care deeply about the well-being of the people we support and want to help them shape a better future.
With this project, we are providing access to clean water and thus improving the living conditions of the people in Mperrishi.

What impresses me most about the WeCare-Association is that a small team like the WeCare- Association can achieve so much if it has enough support. The WeCare-Association makes it possible for children to go to school, which is very important. I am particularly fascinated by the workshops for women. These workshops have really impressed me and make me feel that every little contribution is not just a donation, but an investment in the future that can make a real difference.
The WeCare-Association is an impressive example of how donations can be used responsibly and effectively. Through our support, we help to ensure that children in remote regions have access to education and medical care. It is a matter close to our hearts and a great pleasure to support this valuable organization.
We had the opportunity to get to know the work of the WeCare-Association a few years ago and were impressed by the professionalism and passion of the team. The organization is fully committed to positive change in Africa and Cambodia. Through their private and voluntary work, the team ensures that 100% of the funds go directly to the projects. This creates trust and shows that the organization is fully committed to the well-being of the local people. We greatly appreciate the transparent use of donations and the commitment of all employees who put their heart and soul into the cause. We can therefore recommend the WeCare-Association without reservation, because real help is being provided here!
For me, the WeCare-Association is an example of how donations can be used effectively and responsibly. I am convinced that such small initiatives make a valuable contribution, for example by giving children in remote areas access to education and healthcare. This enables countries such as Kenya or Cambodia to play an even more important role in our world of tomorrow.
All our activities in the Kenyan Maasai region are aimed at combating the cruel practice of female genital mutilation.
