An important form of support is the sponsorship of individual schoolgirls.
As there is currently only one dormitory for girls in Iloshon, we only support girls there.
In Mperrishi, we are currently also concentrating on combating FGM, which is why only girls are currently receiving financial support to attend school.
We currently support 25 girls in Iloshon and 22 girls in Mperrishi. 5 girls in Iloshon are currently (as of March 1, 2022) in the 8th grade and will take their final exams in March 2022.
We are always looking for sponsors to finance their education in secondary school, where they always have to live in a dormitory.
Due to the ongoing drought, more and more animal feed has to be bought, which is available for free in the savannah. These expenses have a devastating impact on an almost non-existent family budget. As a result, more and more families can no longer afford to send their children to school.
We therefore support girls in the dormitory and learning center in Nasaru and in Mperrishi under certain conditions. Above all, however, the parents must undertake to refrain from mutilating the girls.
The availability of food and water at school reduces children’s absenteeism rates at school.
