2024 was a year full of progress and challenges for the WeCare-Association. We are proud of what we achieved together with our dedicated team on the ground.

Mperrishi

Children’s nutrition and health

In July 2024, we hired a new cook to provide the children with regular meals. These meals contribute significantly to improving their health and the overall learning environment. We also focus on hygiene and cleanliness to promote the children’s well-being.

Safety for our dedicated girls

Two of our secondary school students, Abigael and Emily, who actively speak out against FGM, received threats. We took immediate action to ensure their safety.

Projects in Mperrishi

Borehole

To address the water shortage, we identified a suitable location for a borehole and are currently looking for a local project manager to move this important project forward as quickly as possible.

“Our” girls

In 2024, we directly supported 27 girls from Mperrishi, 20 in elementary school and 7 in secondary school. Unfortunately, we had to withdraw four girls from the program: three due to pregnancies, and also the daughter of a local preacher who became actively opposed to us. Another concern is Faith, who is almost blind, and we are unsure what to do with her once she finishes elementary school.

Rehoboth School

In 2024, we continued our support for Rehoboth School, which has around 200 pupils. A comprehensive school feeding program was introduced, providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner to promote the health and motivation of the pupils, as well as the parents. We also supported the teachers, which positively impacted school performance.

School feeding programs and children reached

We provided 57,600 meals and supported 635 children, financing the complete school attendance of 51 girls. The teachers’ seminar, held for the first time, was a great success, allowing us to reach an additional 835 children.
In total, around 1,500 children benefited directly or indirectly from our work in 2024. We are incredibly proud of this.

Conclusion

2024 was a year of positive change, but also of challenges. Thanks to the tireless support of our donors and the local team in Mperrishi and Rehoboth, we were able to achieve a great deal. We are optimistic about the coming year and look forward to continued strong partnerships.
